SV Sonsie July 17...Aloha from Maui

Aloha all from Lahaina!  Sonsie crossed the finish line this morning at 0922 HST under brilliant Maui skies...

The whole crew pushed Sonsie hard during the night running wing and wing with winds to 32 knots under full genoa and main, hitting speeds in the mid 9 knot range...total distance run 180 NM!

Final equipment failure for us in the race was blowing out the bottom in our liquor cabinet...

Great party for us in Lahaina...what a spread put on by Lahaina Yacht Club!

Standings not finalized yet...but rumour has it we may have taken first in our class on corrected time, and third in the fleet...hope it is true!

The crew is going out for one final mai tai round and we all want to thank you for following us during the race; it made the event very special.  Big thanks also to the event organizers for such a great experience!
