Fourteen boats have filed entry papers, representing a 50% increase over the fleets of nine boats which sailed in each of the 2008 and 2010 races. We are very pleased with the support that the sailing community is showing for this classic ocean racing event. There are 10 boats entered in the racing division, and four boats entered in the new cruising division. Of the 14 boats entered, nine are Canadian and five are American. The 2012 Vic-Maui fleet includes the 2010 line honors boat Terremoto!, sailing under new ownership, and the 2010 overall winner Kinetic. Other teams returning from prior Vic-Maui's include Double Deuce (new boat), Red Heather, Red Sheilla, and Turicum. The 2012 fleet boats range in length from 35 to 50 feet. Currently, more than a dozen boats have entered or have entries pending. There is an exciting mix of boats ranging from 35 to 50 feet long, with returning and first-time entrants from both Canada and the United States. Gordon Wylie's XP-44, Phoenix, is the 4th boat to register super-early for the 2022 Vic-Maui; he and his crew will put their offshore racing experience to the test in his new boat. Previously, Gordon raced his Express 37, Selkie, in the 2019 Oregon (now Pacific NW) Offshore.
