Close Encounters Of The Vic-Maui Kind

Often Vic-Maui competitors are asked "Do you ever see any of the other boats during the race?"

"Sometimes... Never... or Only for the first few days" is the typical reply.

Daybreak -  July 22, 2022, three boats converged at 70 nm NE of Maui at approximately 21 31N latitude and155 49W longitude... After 2500 nautical miles of racing!

Xiomara, Red Sheilla and Planet Express in a drag race (sailboat style) to the finish line 70 nm ahead.

Xiomara went onto to take first place in Division 2 and Planet Express first place in Division 3.
