Double Deuce Withdraws from Vic Maui 2012

by Richard Ballantyne, July 6th, 2012

It is a sad end to an expected adventure for family and friends aboard Ron Grierson’s C&C Landfall 48 Double Deuce. After a major refitting over the winter and a myriad of last minute details to resolve, one more problem became one problem too many.  With glum faces, they have decided to withdraw from the race before starting.

A dependence on specialized contractors, who themselves are pressed on many sides, lead to a compression in the Double Deuce schedule to get ready. Ron and his crew worked all hours over the last week to complete their preparations; work that other competitors had the luxury of completing weeks ago. Ron, a career firefighter, had the safety of his crew as his paramount concern and realized it would be better to postpone the adventure, hopefully to return in 2014.

They are now off for a summer of cruising local waters.
