Sailing for the Vancouver Rowing Club and skippered by Gunnar Jonsson, Turicum is a C&C 44 built with balsa-cored fibreglass. Turicum has been actively racing for over fifteen years and has done countless local and distance races, including all three Vic-Maui Qualifying Races: the Van Isle 360, Swiftsure and Southern Straits. She has competed in five of the six most recent Vic-Maui's and won her division in the 2008 race. Gunnar, from New Westminster BC, is well known locally for campaigning Havoc, an SR 33, and sailed as a watch captain on Turicum's 2008 Vic-Maui crew. Turicum's long-time skipper Warren "Hale" Hale will be sailing as navigator for the 2010 race. Gunnar enthuses "Ocean racing is a grand adventure. Our whole crew is looking forward to the land sinking below the horizon as we reach out to deep blue water. It's a separate world out there on a boat, where the combination of people, teamwork and King Neptune define the experience."

Sailing for the Vancouver Rowing Club and skippered by Dan Matthieu, the second entrant for the 2010 Vic-Maui race is Black Watch, a C&C 39. Dan hails from Coquitlam, BC and his team is returning to the Vic-Maui race after competing in the 2006 and 2008 races. Filing Black Watch's entry papers three months ahead of the January 31st entry deadline, Dan says that "This will be our third race to Hawaii and we're definitely looking forward to the whole journey, from the pre-race party in Victoria to the finish in Maui, with the tropical trade winds sailing in between!"
